I am writing this letter to support the Highway 12 Beautification Project. I was delighted when I read that a group of LHS Alumni started this project and "recruited" Russ Bjorhus to head it up (good choice).

However, my approach is more from a bicycle safety point of view. As you all know, bicycles are required to ride with traffic on the right side of the road. A few years back, Highway 12 was rebuilt, adding a center left turn lane (I'm all in favor). This means the vehicle traffic lanes were moved out to the curb leaving very little space for a bicyclist. It is the ultimate in thrills to have an 18 wheeler pass you just three feet from your left elbow!

Now, with Highway 12 East being improved, it is a perfect time to put a bicycle/walking path from Sibley to Cenex. Couple this with the additional trees and we will have a beautiful, functional path into Litchfield.
